The Yaupon Inn is born! Betsy Gwin of Buxton, NC completely renovated her cedar shake motel that sits only 200 yards from the beach. Her parents owned this same motel when she was a child, formerly Hodges Motel, and Betsy wanted to evolve and give her brand a look to match the redesign of the motel. Right in front of the motel is a beautiful yaupon tree, a plant indigenous to the area. Native Americans who lived on Hatteras Island used these trees to make tea for ceremonies,
